Hello, my name is Yuki Nakamura..

I lived in the United States for 4 years with my parents and returned to Japan last December.  When I was 4 years old, we moved to the United States because of my dad’s new job assignment.  When I heard the news from my parents I was very surprised and scared, however, I felt excited because I like the flag of the United States.  I often saw a small flag of the United States on a kid’s meal and I like it most.  When we arrived in the United States I got enrolled in a pre-school. On the first day I was very nervous because I didn’t understand English at all, but my parents were with me, so I felt relieved.  I saw my dad talking about me with my American teacher.  I thought, “I want to speak English like my dad.”  As the months went by I became more and more familiar with English.  I liked going to pre-school because my parents always supported me.  After I joined elementary school, my mom came to school almost every day as a volunteer.  When I was in first grade my mom became one of the class moms and helped my teacher and supported me and my classmates.  My teacher asked my mom to introduce Japanese culture, such as “origami” and “yukatas” to our class.  My mom was very popular with my classmates and friends.  I enjoyed school very much. I joined the Girl Scouts and did many interesting activities for 2 years. For example, I visited the McDonalds House which is for kids near the Children’s hospital and learned a lot of important things to help people

I would like to thank my parents and the United States because I enjoyed my life in the United States very much and both of them gave me such a wonderful experience.  Thank you mom, and thank you dad for your support and for always being there for me. Thank you to the United States too for having me for 4 years.
